The 2017 Land Rover Discovery is the fifth incarnation of the dependable off-roader and is expected to offer previously unseen levels of luxury when it goes on sale next year. TheDiscovery is Land Rover’s largest model aside from the Range Rover. It’s a serious SUV, meaning that proper off-road ability is guaranteed, even if it won’t be used by the majority of Discovery owners. The 2017 model will be revealed in full on the eve of the Paris Motor Showon September 28th.
The fifth-generation, seven-seat 2017 Discovery adopts the squared-off styling of the Discovery Vision Concept revealed back in 2014, and which Land Rover said would shape the design language of its future product. As we managed to understand, land Rover decided to add more style to the Discovery formula, as well as moving it more upmarket, closer to its Range Rover siblings. Moreover, Land Rover says that the car will be as capable off-road as ever, combining "British desirability with an unstoppable spirit of adventure". One more thing we already know is that the new Discovery will be significantly lighter than its predecessor, as it will use the same monocoque structure as the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. This will help with efficiency, particularly as it could allow the company to offer it with a 2.0-litre diesel engine, where the current Discovery is only sold with a 3.0-litre V6 unit.
