Fuel efficient cars will make the gasoline demand collapse?

Fuel efficient cars will make the gasoline demand collapse? This August U.S. gasoline consumption hit a new peak of 9.7 million barrels a day, a growth in demand that many oil bulls believe will be the driver for higher crude oil prices. Specialists are forecasting a increase of gasoline consumption by 1.9% to 9.33 million barrels a day in 2016, it means the record set in 2007 will be surpassed. Even though the gasoline growth is stronger than ever now, a downside in the industry is still predicted.

Fuel efficient vehicles are likely to gain more popularity on greater environmental awareness. The world started to realize the need for cleaner and greener earth. The popularity of cleaner energy resources around the world is testament of the change.

U.S. new-vehicle sales to decline for a second consecutive month?

Even as incentive spending reaches a record high, U.S. new-vehicle sales are projected to decline for a second consecutive month. The forecasts reinforce the notion that industry sales have leveled off after six consecutive years of gains coming out of the recession. But analysts say the market is not on the brink of a downturn, either.
Auto sales are tracking just about even with last year’s record-breaking pace, so there’s good reason to believe that they’ve hit a high plateau. At the very least, automakers can feel good that sales are consistently hovering at or around last year’s record levels. All of the forecasts show that September is expected to be the first month since February in which automakers sold fewer than 1.5 million vehicles.

2017 Audi Q5 first look review

The first Audi Q5 made a name for itself hitting a Goldilocks zone in the crossover segment and challenging BMWMercedes-Benz, and Lexus for supremacy in what would become one of the luxury market’s most important segments. The Q5 is already Audi’s best-selling vehicle globally, underscoring its importance to the German brand. Like its predecessor, the second-generation Q5 takes the Q7’s looks and tech, then distills it into a smaller package.
But unlike the Q7, the Q5 doesn’t look quite so dowdy in its redesigned body. We’ll attribute that to the smaller front and rear overhangs, which keep the Q5 looking like acrossover instead of a high-riding wagon. The face is mostly a carbon copy of the Q7‘s, with a prominent grille featuring a silver surround and flanked by a set of clean, stylish headlights. In back, the smaller Audi gets more expressive taillights that harken back to the first-generation model in their lighting signature. We aren’t really sure what Audi was going for with its two-tier rear bumper, but it doesn’t work and is inarguably the worst piece of an otherwise fashionable design.

The new Renault would be perfect for Batman?

The new Renault would be perfect for Batman? We were thinking that the 3 main French car manufacturers: PeugeotCitroen and Renault didn't know much about making a mad concept, but we got it all wrong. This Renault Trezor is a great example of coolness.

The supercar is powered by a single 350bhp motor pinched from Renault’s Formula E programme, powered by a pair of self-cooling batteries. The motorsport-derived electric poke is able to launch the 1600kg coupe from 0-62mph in under four seconds. All of these details means it's gonna be freaking fast.

Auto industry can now afford low auto sales?

Bulk sales to fleets and a record level of discounting have softened the blow, but underperforming retail demand is catching up with U.S. auto sales this month. Forecasters expect a modest decline in sales for the month of September – say, down less than 1 percent. That should put year-to-date sales roughly dead even or possibly slightly lower than a year ago. U.S. automakers will report September sales on Monday.
At the end of 2015, most analysts expected another record year for U.S. auto sales. That could still happen, but it’s looking less and less likely unless automakers really go all-out in terms of incentives – more than they have already. Incentive spending through early September was at a record average level of $3,923 per unit. The previous high was $3,753, in December 2008. Today, incentives are high but so are the prices new vehicles are fetching at dealerships – especially trucks, thanks to lots of new models, including small, crossover sport-utilities, plus cheap gas.

Volkswagen hopes for a deal with U.S.

Volkswagen hopes for a deal with U.S.This Wednesday the Volkswagen AG Chief Executive Matthias Mueller said he is hopeful the German automaker can reach agreement by the end of the year with the U.S. government on the size of a fine to settle a criminal investigation of the company's alleged violations of U.S. clean air laws.

winter-vw.png
He added that he sees a good progress toward an agreement with U.S. regulators that could allow Volkswagen to repair certain 3.0 liter diesel engines that emit more pollutants than U.S, law allows. Speculation that the U.S. Justice Department will demand a multibillion-dollar fine to settle a criminal investigation of the automaker's use of illegal software to deceive U.S. environmental regulators sent Volkswagen shares into a tailspin earlier this week.

General Motors' new pickups with 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V8

General Motors' new pickups with 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V8General Motors might have deleted really quick it's power figures for the new 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V8, which was posted on its official GM Powertrain website, but it was enough for us to confirm the heavy-duty engine's output.

GM is debuting its 2017 heavy duty pickups at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, and we've got the main hints on its future figures. What are they? Exactly what GM sought to swipe from its website. 445 horsepower at 3,000 rpm and 910 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 rpm.

Land Rover unveils the all-new 2018 Discovery SUV!

Sporting a sleek appearance reminiscent of recent Land Rover concepts, the 2018 Discovery broke cover Wednesday on the eve of the Paris Motor Show. In 27 years, the Discovery has been the all-terrain champion of the British SUV maker, but this vehicle looks as if it will be more at home on Fifth Avenue than the Rubicon Trail. Design chief Gerry McGovern says Land Rover is going through a transformation, as people won’t accept big panel gaps anymore.
Under the skin, the Mark V Discovery adopts the aluminum-intensive D7 architecture of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport with wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension and air springs. This makes for a largely aluminum body shell, but unlike the Range Rovers, the Discovery uses steel subframes for added strength and to keep the cabin floor low enough to allow headroom for the third row of seats. US models will be offered with a choice of five or seven seats. The engine lineup features JLR’s 340-hp, 3.0-liter supercharged V6, available on all trims. The transmission is the ZF eight-speed automatic, with a choice of single or two-speed Torsen-based torque biasing center gearing. Towing capacity is 8,201 pounds. A 3.0-liter turbodiesel making 254 hp will also be available.

September is the month for the highest discounts on new cars

September is the month for the highest discounts on new cars:Considering the growth in auto industry has slowed down in 2016, and U.S. sales for General Motors and Ford were down 5.2% and 8.4% in August, comparing to the same month last year, the car companies aren’t accepting the downturn passively: to juice sales in September, incentive spending is at the highest levels ever.

Screenshot_1.png
Automakers have been trying to boost sales by increasing incentives significantly. The average incentive in September is at a record high of $3,923 per unit. The beats the previous peak of $3,753 in December 2008- back when the Great Recession was kicking into full effect, the economy retrenched dramatically, and dealerships were particularly desperate to move vehicles off their lots.

September U.S. car sales lag year-ago results

Although demand for SUVs and pickups continues to flourish, total U.S. new-vehicle (retail and fleet) sales in September are anticipated to dip 0.8% to less than 1.43 million units vs. 1.44 million unit sales in the same month of 2015. Despite a record level of incentive spending, Labor Day weekend sales, which are traditionally robust, were down 1% from last year, based on sales data collected during the first two weeks of September.
The month’s retail deliveries are set to reach 1.185 million units, off 1.4% from last September’s 1.2 million. Fleet sales are expected to rise 2.1% to 243,600 units and make up 17% of the mix. Demand for light trucks is robust; deliveries of pickups and SUVs account for nearly a 61% share of new-vehicle retail sales so far in September, and the percentage may match the record set in July of this year. Pickups alone comprised 15.9% of sales this month.

Nissan executive claims the company aims to launch a new EV

We guess most of you know that the Renault Zoe is a very popular electric vehicle in Europe. Renault’s ambition was to introduce a practical five-door hatchback with a quiet, smooth and green electric powertrain, well equipped interior and torquey town performance, all for a much more reasonable price than had been seen on other electric cars. Its main rival is the similarly priced and larger (yet not as well specced) Nissan Leaf. Still, the Renault Zoe gives buyers on the continent a zero-emissions option that’s smaller than the Nissan Leaf.
In the U.S. Nissan offers the only all-electric passenger vehicle, but the company might be taking a page from its corporate partner to offer a smaller Leaf in the near future. Gareth Dunsmore, Nissan EV European head, claims that Nissan is thinking about both a smaller EV based on the Zoe and larger, all-electric SUV/CUV. The company invested $5.4 billion in electric cars such as the Leaf. They want to be sure that they are satisfying as many types of customer as possible. He also added that looking towards crossovers or the B-segment for the next car could make perfect sense.

Analysts think September auto sales will stay strong

Analysts think September auto sales will stay strongDespite a record high for consumer discounts, specialists forecast a 1% drop of U.S. auto sales. September U.S. new vehicle sales will be 1.43 million, down 0.8% from a year earlier. The seasonally adjusted annualized rate for September will be 17.7 million vehicles, down from 18 million on the same basis a year earlier.

Even retails sales to consumers, which don't include multiple fleet sales to rental agencies, businesses and government, were seen declining 1.4% in September. It would be the fifth month in the past seven to show a retail sales decline.

U.S. auto sales are are expected to decrease in September?

Despite a record high for consumer discounts, September U.S. auto sales are forecast to drop nearly 1 percent from a year ago. The seasonally adjusted annualized rate for September will be 17.7 million vehicles, down from 18 million on the same basis a year earlier. Retail sales to consumers, which do not include multiple fleet sales to rental agencies, businesses and government, were seen declining 1.4 percent in September. Wall Street analysts have pressured shares of major U.S. automakers because they have expected the industry downturn that looks to be under way, albeit at near-record sales levels. A year ago, sales hit a record high of nearly 17.5 million vehicles. New home sales, which usually correlate closely to pickup truck sales, fell 7.6 percent in August. Pickup truck and SUV sales accounted for 58.4 percent of U.S. auto sales in 2016 through August, compared with 54.4 percent in August 2015.

The next-generation Jeep Compass debuts in Brazil with new look!

If you think that the new Jeep Compass looks like the model that is on sale now, you are greatly mistaken. The car has a completely new look. Being the new C-Segment SUV in Jeep’s lineup, it will replace the current Jeep Compass and Patriot and take a spot between the Renegade and Cherokee. The 2017 Jeep Compass made its official debut Monday in Pernambuco, Brazil, where production of the vehicle has started. It also will be produced in plants in China and Mexico (for the U.S. market).
The 2017 Compass is based on a stretched version of the Renegade platform, what Fiat Chrysler Automotive in a fit of eloquence calls the “Small Wide 4×4” architecture. We expect front-wheel drive as standard and all-wheel drive as a very commonly selected option. The Compass should offer either a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four or a naturally-aspirated 2.4-liter inline-four, both mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. There’s a small chance that it will get a manual, but we think it won’t. That being said, globally there will be 17 powertrain options, according to FCA, and that may mean US consumers will have more than one choice in the matter.

3 Reasons Why EV cars are popular in California, but not in US

3 Reasons Why EV cars are popular in California, but not in US:The International Council of Transportation has published recently a very interesting analysis of the California electric market. It provided a great overview of the effects of different policies and promotional activities in effect there through 2015, as well as lessons for other locations.

green-tesla-3
This analysis was based around city-level data on electric vehicles for 30 different cities, including adoption rates, public charging infrastructure availability, model availability, promotional efforts, incentives, etc. Electric vehicle adoption rates in many Californian cities are much higher than elsewhere in the country, and California as a whole is home to about half of all US EV sales.

Volvo revival reaching 'end of the beginning'?

Volvo’s CEO says that Volvo Car USA has turned the corner with two of its 90-series vehicles on sale and others due early next year. A U.S. sales increase of 29 percent through August is evidence that Volvo’s gutsy revival strategy was the right choice. Volvo is building all its vehicles on its flexible Scalable Product Architecture, or SPA. And it is using only turbo and supercharged Drive-E engines paired with optional plug-in hybrid power. Lex Kerssemakers says that the company is on a turnaround in the U.S. that started with the XC90.
Volvo was starved for product for years after its ownership by Ford Motor Co. The Swedish brand was sold to China’s Geely in 2010 and began developing new products and engines – the first of which was last year’s XC90 crossover. So with more of the 90-series line coming to market, “we are at the end of the beginning,” Kerssemakers said. U.S. sales of the redesigned XC90 crossover through August totaled 21,760 units – higher than the competing Audi Q7 – and are expected to grow to 30,000 vehicles this year. Next year, sales of the new V90 Cross Country unveiled here will account for an additional 5,000 to 6,000 units. The Cross Countryis a rugged version of the V90 station wagon with high seating, high ground clearance and standard all-wheel drive. The S90 sedan is already on sale. The V90, V90 Cross Country and the new long-wheelbase S90L go on sale in early 2017.

3 Underrated Cars Which Deserve More Attention

3 Underrated Cars Which Deserve More AttentionThere are so many over rated vehicles in the whole world that people don't even look at other models, even though they might have the same features, or even better ones, and they would totally wear a cheaper price-tag. Nowadays people are starting already to think on why buy a car for its brand, and not buy it for what it actually is. Here's Repokar's list of 3 underrated cars which could've been best friends to all of us, but something went wrong.

Honda Accord Coupe- It might look a bit like Honda Civic, but it doesn't mean it does it all like Civic. The fact is that the manufacturer must have built Civic more like Accord, because guys Accord is totally worth your money and appreciation. Pick up a V6 coupe from 2008 up until now and you'll be having a lot of fun. The manual gearboxes are a delight, the pedals are in the right place to rev match and the steering feel and weight is what all cars should be aiming for.

The price for the 2017 Nissan GT-R Nismo jumps to $176,585!

The pricing for the 2017 GT-R Nismo was announced in conjunction with the 12th Annual Japanese Classic Car Show in Long Beach, California. You may forget but when the first R35 GT-R made its US debut at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show, it carried a price of $69,850. The original Nissan GT-R wasn’t just a giant-killer: it was a hell of a bargain. Now, Godzilla’s hottest variant, the 2017 GT-R Nismo, officially costs $100,000 more than the original R35.
This is not a mistake, the 2017 Nissan GT-R Nismo really costs $176,585, including $1,595 in destination charges. When you see this price, you may think it’s too much for this car and the figure might seem exorbitant. Still, it’s only about $10,000 more than last year’s GT-R Nismo, a mere smidgen in the world of six-figure supercars. And unlike the $188,100 Porsche 911 Turbo S, Nissan’s price is almost a case of what you see is what you get. Paint is the only available option, with Super Silver carrying a $3,000 price tag and Pearl White demanding an extra $1,000. We think you’ll ever find a 911 Turbo S for its base price.
