As we know, Ford Mustang has always been about big things: big engines, big power, and big noise. Nevertheless, owning a V8 Mustang will burn a hole in your pocket, as today’s sports cars are downsizing engines – hence the four cylinder Ecoboost Mustang. You may criticize it, saying that it’s slow and blasphemous, but in fact, the Ecoboost is better 90% of the time for 90% of drivers. The Ecoboost Mustang is the sports car on easy mode.
Of course, the Ecoboost doesn’t growl like the V8. It is too quite, even if we compare it to other turbocharged Fords. The thing is that the small, turbocharged motor can’t have and doesn’t have the immediacy of a large, naturally-aspirated V8. However, the company is now offering an engine calibration and cold intake that adds more power and loads of torque to the already-potent four-cylinder model. Specifically, the Ecoboost Mustang powerpackage gives the four-cylinder 25 more peak horsepower and a whopping 70 more lb-ft peak of torque. That brings numbers up to 335 hp and 390 lb-ft. You might notice that the torque number is just 10 lb-ft away from the stock Mustang GT.
