The launch of the 2017 BMW diesels will be delayed thanks to VW

The US sales of the 2017 BMW diesel vehicles will be delayed. This is due to the fact that US regulators has not certified the models. Bimmer, which sells diesel-powered 3-Series, 5-Series, X3, and X5 vehicles in the US has not announced the date when such domestic sales would start.

The BMW spokeswoman Rebecca Kiehne said that the product certification has been delayed due to testing logistics. She also stressed that the production of the BMW diesel models will start after finalization of the cars' homologation. The problem is that US regulators decided to take a more deliberate approach to certifying diesel cars because of the Volkswagen diesel-emissions scandal, which broke in September 2015. Last month Volkswagen reached a settlement with US regulators that will cost the German automaker about $15 billion. The company will improve zero-emission vehicle technologies and maybe it will fix some cars.
