2019 Subaru Crosstrek PHEV: Company's First Plug-In Hybrid

Subaru announced its first plug-in hybrid vehicle, and it will come in the form of its third-best-selling car, the Crosstrek. This is fitting in a couple ways: it’s a quick selling vehicle and the Crosstrek was the model used for Subaru’s first conventional hybrid, introduced for the 2014 model year. The company did not reveal any photos yet.


The Crosstrek PHEV will also have something in common with the Subaru BRZ in the sense that it will benefit from Toyota’s technology. The company said that the hybrid system comes from Toyota. The crossover, like many other PHEVs, will be capable of driving in full-EV mode and in conventional hybrid mode. The company hasn’t announced yet how much range it will have.
